100 Years Ago

At a regular meeting of the A.Z.A. fraternity held at the Y.M.H.A./Y.W.H.A. a short time ago, Mr. Saul Kleinman, Superintendent of the Sh’erith Israel D’Lubawitz Talmud Torah, delivered an address on the High Holy Days. Following the address, an interesting discussion on Jewish customs took place.
The entire national Order of the Aleph Zadik Aleph of the B’nai B’rith will sponsor a nation-wide essay contest the latter part of this year or the early part of next year. The exact details of this contest will be announced within the near future by Aleph David Koppel, who has been appointed chairman of this district. Further details will be announced later.
A.Z.A. basketball practices has begun in earnest, the local chapter having sincere expectations of becoming the Missouri-Kansas entry in the national tournament to be held in Chicago. The fraternity has been very fortunate in securing the services of Himie Vile, of “Y” basketball, renown as coach. Practice will he held every Monday evening at the Benton school.

Annual A.Z.A. #2 Sweetheart Dance To Be Yom Kippur Night, Oct. 10
Gerean Millman, Terry Kopelman, Deborah Bretton, Donna Chernikoff, Rachel Feldman, are the candidates for the title of “AZA Sweetheart Dance” to be held from 9 to 12, Yom Kippur night, Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Pla-Mor, 32nd and Main.
Music will be provided by Les Copley and his orchestra.
The candidates were chosen on merits of popularity, personality and beauty. The winner will be chosen by popular vote at the dance. Each ticket is good for two votes.
Advance tickets are $1.50 and may be purchased from any AZA No. 2 member or at the Center. Door admission will be $1.75.
