100 Years Ago

In order to further acquaint Kansas City Jewry with the work of Aleph Zadik Aleph and to strengthen fraternal ties between this junior order and B’nai B’rith, a joint meeting will be held Sunday, Sept. 6, with the Kansas City, Kansas B’nai B’rith lodge and the A.Z.A. chapters of Kansas City, Mo., and Kansas City, Kan. The Jewish Community Hall of Kansas City, Kansas, at Seventh Street and Sandusky Avenue, will serve as the meeting place, and a program of unusual attractiveness is planned.

Mr. B.M. Achtenburg, prominent attorney of Kansas City, Mo., and vice president of District Grand Lodge No. 2 of B’nai B’rith, will offer the principal address of the evening, The remainder of the program also promises to be inviting. It will consist of musical numbers, speeches by the presidents and advisors of both of the A.Z.A. chapters, and readings. As an added attraction, the services of the “famous” Apache dance team, Zolley Lerner and Jack Moskowitz, who proved so popular an attraction at the “Y” carnival, have been secured for the evening.

The program is scheduled for 8 p.m., and a cordial invitation is extended to every Jewish person in Greater Kansas City to attend. There will no admission charges.
