100 Years Ago

The Kansas City chapter of the Order of the Aleph Zadik Aleph (Junior B’nai B’rith) will hold a dinner-dance at the Ambassador hotel Wednesday evening, Sept. 1. The affair is to be a farewell for the A.Z.A. collegians.

Among other important business transacted at a regular meeting of the local chapter were plans for the National A.Z.A. tournament, which will probably be held in Chicago early next year. At this annual event, all the chapters of the country enter competition in basketball, debating and oratory.  In order that the Kansas City chapter may have an able representation, a committee  has already been elected by the organization to sponsor the event. The following compose the committee: Phil Copland, chairman; Jack Moskowitz; and David Koppel.

The organization has again decided to the award two “Y” memberships to the most deserving boy and girl of Bittersweet camp. Hereafter, this will be an annual contribution.

Aleph Paul Vigder, chairman of the inter-fraternal relations committee, presented the organization with the Missouri-Kansas tennis trophy which the chapter had won two weeks again in competition with the Nordaunian chapter.

A joint meeting with the Nordaunian chapter is being planned for the near future. In this way, it is hoped that inter-fraternal relations between the two chapters may be strengthened.
