International Grand Aleph Godol Dan Mezistrano was a special guest at Two’s AZA chapter meeting on Sept. 25, at the Jewish Community Center.

Mezistrano, of Mercer Island, Wash., is an Aleph from Evergreen Region and is serving as the 100th Grand Aleph Godol.

Mezistrano stressed to the chapter the importance of creating diverse programming.

“When you’re looking at all the different types of programs that BBYO can do and all the different folds of programming that we have, it’s important to think and make sure we’re addressing all the different folds so there’s something for everyone,” Mezistrano said.

An interesting note is that Mezistrano ran against Two’s own Eli Maker for the position of Grand Aleph S’gan in 2022; both Alephs were defeated unfortunately.

Two’s chapter debate between Shaefer Spizman and Danny Martin has been pushed back a month and will now take place at the next chapter meeting. The topic of the debate is: Climate change is it real or a hoax? Danny will argue the affirmative, that climate change is indeed real; Shaefer will take the negative side. Micah Kramer will moderate the debate.

Micah Kramer was named KC AZA Cup Commissioner and will work with Nordaunian AZA’s delegate in the planning and implementation of the inaugural AZA Cup, which will kick off in November. Two’s will compete against Nordaunian in seven sports: flag football, bowling, pickleball, golf, table tennis, basketball and golf.
