Ten young ladies will compete for this year’s 40th annual AZA Chapter 2 Yom Kippur Dance “sweetheart contest,” to be held from 9 p.m. to midnight, Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Plaza Inn.
The contestants and their parents are: Allison Sher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester L. Sher; Marcee Jacobsen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Jacobsen; Paula Fremerman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Fremerman; Leslie Karen Rosenblum, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Rosenblum; Melanie Glassman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Glassman; Ronnie Levine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley B. Levine; Leslee Parnes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Parnes; Sheila Katz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Katz; Sandy Kantor; daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Irving Epstein; and Elisa Haith, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Edward E. The selection of the 1974 Yom Kippur Sweetheart will be made by balloting, plus interviews by a panel of judges. Two bands will entertain for dancing and listening, one for adults and one for the young people, and both the Regency and Embassy Rooms of the Plaza Inn will be utilized for the event.
A dinner at 6 p.m. in the Regency Room will honor past members of Kansas City AZA Chapter 2. The response to the invitations sent out to former members has been good, and reservations may be made until Sept. 14.
Those wishing to attend the dance only, from 9 p.m. to midnight, may purchase tickets at $2.50 per couple in advance from any contestant or member of AZA No. 2. Tickets at the door will be $3 per couple. Proceeds are earmarked for the Morton E. Rabin Scholarship Fund of the B’nai B’rith Youth Organization.
Serving as chairman of the dance is Dick Cohen. Gary Martasin is the advisor for the group.
