Parents of AZAs of chapters 2 and 200 were guests of honor at a program-social given last Sunday afternoon by the Alephs at The Center. Arthur S. Schlessinger, B’nai B’rith member, introduced the numbers on the program with the wit which has contributed to many of the lodge programs Mrs. Phil Lipper and Irving Levitas gave the principal talks of the afternoon, brief addresses being made also by Leon Sedler and Jack Louis, presidents, respectively of chapter 2 and chapter 200. The program presented also: Miss Selma Einbinder, violinist; “Sonny” Kline, vocalist; and Bill Cohen, dramatic reader.

A.Z.A. Chapter No. 2 is planning its annual all-day affair for June 2. The committee includes: Harold Lanier, Howard Naster, Sol Cohen, and Bob Gluck. Flowers are being sent to al mothers on May 12, and a program will be provided for all parents Sunday, May 12, 3:30 p.m., at the Center. Irving Levits will be the guest speaker. Initiation is being planned for June 8.

Zolley Lerner, long associated with the Resident Theatre as director, and Hollywood motion picture director, will speak on “The Jew in the Movie and on Stage,” May 10. He is the next speaker in the series comprising the course, “The Jew and His Contemporaries,” being offered this term at the School of Jewish Studies. Classes are held at Beth Shalom Synagogue, 3400 Paseo. (Lerner is an AZA #2 alumnus.)

In Hollywood, Lerner was under contract with Twentieth Century Fox and Warner Brothers, and directed many feature films. He currently is the in the oil business but is still directing and recently returned from New York, where he directed television movies for NBC.

In his presentation, Lerner will speak from first-hand experience and personal contacts with many celebrities of the New York stage and Hollywood screen.
