Aleph Zadik Aleph chapters 2 and 200, of Kansas City, Mo., are preparing for their hostship of a three-ringed event by the western region of A.Z.A., to be held here December 27, 28, and 28. During that period, the western region will stage: a tournament in basketball, oration, and debate; a convention at which delegated will complete the redistricting of the western region; and a conference of A.Z.A. advisers.

Three states, Missouri, Kansas and Colorado, are included in the reorganized western district. Chapters from Kansas City, Kan, St. Joseph, St. Louis, Wichita, Topeka, Denver and Pueblo will be represented in the tournament and convention sessions, in addition to the two local groups. The western region is a reorganization of the former Missouri Valley region.

The Center is to headquarters for the gathering. The general committee in charge of arrangements is composed of Nathan Stein and Davin Minkin (of AZA #2) and Jack Louis. The western region debate and oration contest is a preliminary to a district tournament to held in St. Louis. Winners of the St. Louis event will be entries in the national tournament, which will be part of the program at the convention next summer in California.

The host chapters here have prepared a round of social events to augment the activities slated for the western region meet. A number of the young ladies were A.Z.A. Sweethearts in 1935 and 1936 contests for the title staged at the annual Yom Kippur dance.

In addition to the medals, survivors in the oration and debate clashed will be given free trips to St. Louis to compete in the district meet. Oration subjects must deal with a famous Jewish personality. The debate subject is “Resolved: That public, rather than private, ownership of land should be encouraged in Palestine.”

The basketball team will be selected from the following: Robert Chickinsky, Isadore Braude, Herman Klurman, Carl Tovsky, Yudell Luke, Harold Braude, Isadore Danovsky, Leonard Belove and Bill Kornfield.
