(From the March 13, 1925 issue of The Kansas City Jewish Chronicle)
The AZA basketball team easily defeated the Benton Tigers by the score of 55-18. Phil Copland was the individual star of the game, scoring 28 points. Julius Peltzman also played a good game at guard. The AZA basketball team will play the Huron Chapter of DeMolay on Saturday night, March 14, at 8 o’clock. A good game is expected as the Huron team has been going good this season. Everybody is welcome. The AZA basketball team will play a return game with the D.V.V. team of St. Joseph on Friday, March 20, at St. Joseph, when on their way to Omaha to compete in the debate and basketball team which will be held in Omaga March 21 and 22. The AZA team defeated the D.V.V. team in their first game by the score of 15-13… The next meeting of the AZA’s will be held Sunday, March 15. All members are requested to be present.

Oliver Zeff and Norman Zusman have recently been voted into pledgeship. The recent membership drive was considered a success. At its meeting March 4, five prospective members were introduced…. Harold Laner, War Service chairman, is in charge of a Red Cross drive confined to the members of Chapter 2. Members make contributions at each meeting … Four representatives attended the St. Joseph AZA Sweetheart dance March 4, in St. Joseph.

AZA No. 2 is holding a comic book drive which will last until Saturday, March 19. These comic books will be send to Mercy Hospital. Anyone who has comic books and has no further use for them may contact an AZA No. 2 member for pickup. The group will have a hayride Saturday, March 26.

Carol and Arnold Caviar, known as devoted and active community philanthropists, have been selected at the Kansas City Chapter of AMIT Honorees for 2005. Their many selfless contributions to the Kansas City Jewish community, the local chapter of AMIT and their dedication to many good causes have made the obvious choice for this honor. … Arnie (an alumnus of AZA No. 2), son of the late Issie and Mary Caviar, changed careers from a business teacher and basketball coach at Southeast High School to work in the family business, Liberty Fruit Co. Hu successfully changed the operation and expanded to many states. As president of the company, he has supplied produce at groceries and restaurants and continues to expand.
