Two’s AZA has announced a new partnership with Mitzvah Garden KC, beginning Sept. 1, 2024.
The chapter will volunteer the first Sunday of every month during the school year (except for November, December and January). The three Two’s members who volunteer the most hours will be rewarded at The Marty Awards at the end of the year. The project is part of Two’s “If I Had The World To Give” campaign, aimed at ending hunger in our community.
Mitzvah Garden KC is a volunteer-supported, nonprofit garden founded in 2000 that is “dedicated to growing community one plant at a time while learning about the agricultural roots of the Jewish calendar.” All of its harvests go to local food pantries like After the Harvest, Safe Home and Jewish Family Services Food Pantries. They plant, harvest, and tend during all seasons of the year, while also ensuring that our pollinator friends (bees) have plants available for survival.
Two’s members are asked to be at the Gardren by 8:00 a.m. on Sundays. Volunteer for as little or long as you can. (The Garden closes at noon).
Here is a list of dates that Two’s is scheduled to volunteer:
- Sunday, Sept. 1
- Sunday, Oct. 6
- Sunday, Feb. 2
- Sunday, March 2
- Sunday, April 6
- Sunday, May 4
Feel to free volunteer to any Sunday. Unless it is a Jewish holiday, the Garden is every Sunday from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 pm, no sign ups necessary!
Mitzvah Garden KC is located at: 12320 Nall Ave, Overland Park, KS 66209 (behind The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah).
